Plastering and Perth homes
Perth's centre has Georgian and Victorian stone townhouses and flats near the North and South Inch, with villas in Kinnoull and Craigie and post-war and newer estates in Letham, North Muirton and Tulloch. Areas near the Tay have a history of flooding.
- Solid stone walls are often finished with traditional plaster on the hard. Damp patches should be diagnosed before re-plastering, and lime may be the right material.
- Period houses often have decorative cornice and ceiling roses that need repair, not removal.
- Historic interiors may call for lime plaster and repairs to the original cornice.
- Ex-council houses from the 1960s–90s often have artex ceilings, and artex applied before 2000 may contain asbestos. Test before sanding or scraping.
- Newer homes are mostly plasterboard, so common jobs are skimming, patching settlement cracks and boarding lofts.
Areas covered include City Centre, Craigie, Letham, North Muirton, Tulloch, Bridgend, Kinnoull, Oakbank, Hillyland, Scone, Moncreiffe, Viewlands. Local authority: Perth & Kinross Council.

How it works
- Tell us the job. Give a short description, your postcode and roughly when.
- We pass it to one local tradesperson who covers your area and does that kind of work. We pick one, not five, so your phone won't ring all day.
- They contact you to arrange a visit or a quote. You decide whether to go ahead.
To be upfront about what we are: we're an independent quote-request service, not a trade company. We don't vet, insure or guarantee anyone's work, so always get a written quote and check the registrations that apply to your job.
Questions
Does it cost me anything?
No. It's free for homeowners and tenants. Some tradespeople pay us a small fee for an introduction.
How many people will contact me?
One. We share your request with one local tradesperson only. If they can't help, we'll ask you before passing it to anyone else.
Which areas do you cover?
Perth (PH1, PH2), including Craigie, Letham, North Muirton, Tulloch, Bridgend, Kinnoull. If we can't find someone suitable, we'll tell you honestly.
Do you check the tradespeople?
We only pass jobs to businesses with a public address or trading history, but we're not an accreditation scheme. For gas work, check the Gas Safe Register. For electrics, check SELECT, NICEIC or NAPIT. Perth & Kinross Council Trading Standards can also advise on dealing with traders.
Can I delete my details?
