Common jobs
- Full bathroom refit
- Shower or walk-in shower
- Wet rooms and accessible bathrooms
- Kitchen supply and fit
- Tiling
Before you hire
Bigger refits involve plumbing and electrics. Ask who does each part and whether they're registered (Gas Safe, SELECT/NICEIC/NAPIT).
What to know for your type of home
- Tenement flats: Tenement bathrooms are often small and the pipework old. Ask the fitter to check the waste and supply pipes as part of the quote.
- Older stone houses: Uneven walls and floors in older stone houses can add time to tiling and fitting, so a site visit before the quote helps.
- Granite houses: Thick granite walls can limit where waste pipes run, so a site visit before the quote is worth it.
- New-town homes: Many new-town bathrooms and kitchens are original or decades old, so full refits and walk-in showers are popular.
- Victorian villas: Larger period houses suit freestanding baths and bigger kitchen layouts, but the pipe routes are worth checking first.
- New builds: Builder-grade kitchens and bathrooms are often upgraded after a few years.
- Coastal and exposed homes: Good extraction matters in exposed homes where condensation can build up.

How it works
- Tell us the job. Give a short description, your postcode and roughly when.
- We pass it to one local tradesperson who covers your area and does that kind of work. We pick one, not five, so your phone won't ring all day.
- They contact you to arrange a visit or a quote. You decide whether to go ahead.
To be upfront about what we are: we're an independent quote-request service, not a trade company. We don't vet, insure or guarantee anyone's work, so always get a written quote and check the registrations that apply to your job.
Questions
Does it cost me anything?
No. It's free for homeowners and tenants. Some tradespeople pay us a small fee for an introduction.
How many people will contact me?
One. We share your request with one local tradesperson only. If they can't help, we'll ask you before passing it to anyone else.
Which areas do you cover?
Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Perth, Stirling and 18 more Scottish towns, listed below. If we can't find someone suitable, we'll tell you honestly.
Do you check the tradespeople?
We only pass jobs to businesses with a public address or trading history, but we're not an accreditation scheme. For gas work, check the Gas Safe Register. For electrics, check SELECT, NICEIC or NAPIT. Your local council's Trading Standards team can also advise.
Can I delete my details?
Yes. Email c243house@outlook.com and we'll delete them. See the privacy notice.
