Common jobs
- Full or partial rewires
- New consumer unit (fuse box)
- EICR / landlord safety reports
- Sockets, lighting and outdoor power
- EV charger installation
Before you hire
Ask whether the electrician is registered with SELECT, NICEIC or NAPIT, and get an electrical installation certificate when the job's done.
What to know for your type of home
- Tenement flats: Older tenement flats often still have dated wiring and consumer units. An EICR is a sensible first step before a sale or let.
- Older stone houses: Solid stone walls make chasing in new cables harder, so rewires in older stone houses can take longer than in modern homes.
- Granite houses: Chasing cables into granite is slow and hard work, so surface trunking or routes through floors are often used in rewires.
- New-town homes: Many new-town homes have consumer units from the 1970s–90s that may not have modern RCD protection, which is worth checking with an EICR.
- Victorian villas: Larger older houses may have been partly rewired over the years, so an EICR helps work out what really needs doing.
- New builds: Newer homes often want EV chargers, garden power and extra sockets added to an otherwise modern installation.
- Coastal and exposed homes: Outdoor sockets and lighting on exposed coastal sites need weatherproof (IP-rated) fittings.

How it works
- Tell us the job. Give a short description, your postcode and roughly when.
- We pass it to one local tradesperson who covers your area and does that kind of work. We pick one, not five, so your phone won't ring all day.
- They contact you to arrange a visit or a quote. You decide whether to go ahead.
To be upfront about what we are: we're an independent quote-request service, not a trade company. We don't vet, insure or guarantee anyone's work, so always get a written quote and check the registrations that apply to your job.
Questions
Does it cost me anything?
No. It's free for homeowners and tenants. Some tradespeople pay us a small fee for an introduction.
How many people will contact me?
One. We share your request with one local tradesperson only. If they can't help, we'll ask you before passing it to anyone else.
Which areas do you cover?
Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Perth, Stirling and 18 more Scottish towns, listed below. If we can't find someone suitable, we'll tell you honestly.
Do you check the tradespeople?
We only pass jobs to businesses with a public address or trading history, but we're not an accreditation scheme. For gas work, check the Gas Safe Register. For electrics, check SELECT, NICEIC or NAPIT. Your local council's Trading Standards team can also advise.
Can I delete my details?
