- Original doors in listed buildings should be secured without damaging historic fabric.
- Older front doors often need mortice locks that meet British Standard BS3621 for insurance.
- New-build front doors usually have multi-point locks, and anti-snap cylinders are a cheap upgrade.

Do you check the tradespeople?
We only pass jobs to businesses with a public address or trading history, but we're not an accreditation scheme. For gas work, check the Gas Safe Register. For electrics, check SELECT, NICEIC or NAPIT. City of Edinburgh Council Trading Standards can also advise on dealing with traders.
