Roofing and Aberdeen homes
Aberdeen is the 'Granite City': most older houses and tenements in Rosemount, Ferryhill and the West End are built of grey granite, with council housing in areas like Mastrick and Northfield and plenty of newer estates around Bridge of Don, Dyce and Cove.
- Granite houses are usually roofed in natural slate, often with dormers, which need careful leadwork to stay watertight.
- Tenement roofs and gutters are usually common repairs shared between owners. A roofer can quote for the block, and the owners or factor normally agree the split.
- In blocks with mixed owners and tenants, roof repairs are often a common repair that needs agreement with the council or housing association.
- Newer homes mostly have concrete-tile roofs, and the common jobs are ridge, verge and gutter repairs.
- Wind and driving rain off the water make slipped slates, ridge and flashing problems more common, so book an inspection after big storms.
Areas covered include Rosemount, Ferryhill, Old Aberdeen, Torry, Kincorth, Bridge of Don, Dyce, Cults, Mastrick, Northfield, Garthdee, Cove Bay. Local authority: Aberdeen City Council.

How it works
- Tell us the job. Give a short description, your postcode and roughly when.
- We pass it to one local tradesperson who covers your area and does that kind of work. We pick one, not five, so your phone won't ring all day.
- They contact you to arrange a visit or a quote. You decide whether to go ahead.
To be upfront about what we are: we're an independent quote-request service, not a trade company. We don't vet, insure or guarantee anyone's work, so always get a written quote and check the registrations that apply to your job.

Does it cost me anything?
No. It's free for homeowners and tenants. Some tradespeople pay us a small fee for an introduction.
How many people will contact me?
One. We share your request with one local tradesperson only. If they can't help, we'll ask you before passing it to anyone else.
